Historical Figures

Angels in America fictionalizes two real, historical figures in Roy Cohn and Ethel Rosenberg. 

While they may be the only two documented in history, it is important to note that all the characters are realistic. There are real Priors in the world, real Joes, and real Harpers. Every character could reflect a real person's lived experience. Becoming a prophet may seem far-fetched, but the impact of identity and the AIDs crisis was heavy and life-altering for many.
